Cultural Responsiveness, Empowerment, & Equipping Black Women with mental health support is about more than just treatment.
The Maternal Vitality Study asks Black women to help create a research-based screening and intervention protocol for maternal depression during and after pregnancy, as well as other factors that impact Black women’s health and wellness. The study co-creates with Black women who have been pregnant within the last year -and- Black women mental health professionals who serve mothers and families, to identify solutions for Black women to empower them with strategies to boost their overall health and wellness for themselves and their families. We want more than survival- we want vitality!
Study appointments are one-on-one, flexible, based on your schedule, and can be completed virtually or in person. Compensation for this study is a $25 in Gift Card for participating mothers/women and mental health professionals (each).

More about Maternal Depression
Maternal depression is a complex condition that includes physical and psychological symptoms for women during and after pregnancy. It can include symptoms related to general depression and anxiety, but also “Baby Blues”, anger, and even chronic stress.
Unaddressed maternal mental health needs contribute to the U.S. maternal and infant mortality crisis, especially for Black American women and families.
